It's called being a decent human being, rather than a money grabbing schmuck.

I shoot a lot of Resorts and have no problem in giving a client the widest latitude in usage and rights, because I know it's important to them and I never nickle and dime them for sharing those shots with the Media - because we're in business together. I even toss in extras for good will - when it's deserved.

It's being reduced to a commodity by bean counters who have no respect for the work and don't give a shit for the professionalism of the person they hire, that galls me. Amatuer Eager Beavers in all creative fields are especially at risk from people like this.Andrew Ptakhttp://www.andrewptak.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099402.post-16868168402619088252009-05-06T08:38:00.000-07:002009-05-06T08:38:00.000-07:00It's called "Branding".It's called "Branding".Ronnie LEBOWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09454861000227182495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099402.post-48195370356731838372009-05-06T07:23:00.000-07:002009-05-06T07:23:00.000-07:00Aren't you just givingg away your thoughts and all...Aren't you just givingg away your thoughts and all for free? You are complaining about the undermining of your work by people who are charging only pennies, saying you won't do work if its not good money, yet you do this for nothing...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099402.post-2729113154218006762009-05-05T05:23:00.000-07:002009-05-05T05:23:00.000-07:00Photographers are in the same boat.We shoot oursel...Photographers are in the same boat.We shoot ourselves in the foot all of the time with spec work, something that Ad agencies encourage us to do - divide and conquer.

I used to make a decent living from Stock and now every idiot with a Canon Rebel is on istock and competing with me, solely on price. They don't care about the money, they just want to see their name in print.

All of this will have new business models evolve and there's nothing wrong with that. What has been lost though (forever, I feel) is respect for the work. and that's a crying shame.Andrew Ptakhttp://www.andrewptak.comnoreply@blogger.com
